As the Senior Management Assistant at the Comprehensive Online Education Services (COES), Simla Bhawanipersad is the face and voice of COES. As the first point of contact for stakeholders looking to engage with COES and its UPOnline offering, Bhawanipersad brings a dynamic energy and unwavering dedication to her role. What motivated you to pursue a career in online education?

I was motivated by the flexibility and accessibility that online education offers. It allows learners from different parts of the world to access quality education without geographical barriers.

Who are the women that inspired you and how did they inspire your professional career?

My mom always motivated me to do my best and then of course Michelle Obama's advocacy for education, especially for girls, and her initiatives like 'Let Girls Learn' inspired me to focus on empowering others through education. Her ability to balance multiple roles with grace and impact influenced my professional approach.

What advice would you give to women who are considering a career in online education?

Stay updated with the latest educational technologies and tools. Being proficient in various online platforms and software will enhance your teaching methods and keep you competitive in the field.

Online education is constantly evolving, so commit to continuous learning. Attend webinars, take online courses, and participate in professional development opportunities to stay ahead.

What role do you think women will play in shaping the future of online education?
